Medusa Nebula

This is a RGB image of SAC-PK205+14.1, a planetary nebula called the Medusa nebula, a rather large (10.6') and faint planetary nebula in Gemini. The central star of this nebula is the bluish one about right in the middle of the image. As usual, seeing was not good and I had to remove gradients from light pollution. Despite this I seem to have picked up somewhat more blue nebulosity than in other pictures I have seen of this object and some faint outer wisps of nebulosity opposite the brightest part.

The image was made during the nights of 10-11 and 11-12 February 2008. Each color was exposed for a total of one hour each using an Astrodon filter set in the CFW-10 mounted on my SBIG ST-10XME. The telescope used was my Vixen VMC260L with the Vixen f/6.3 reducer for this system.
