Sun 2008 (latest picture on top)
04 May 2008, two small sunspots. Hazy sky, seeing 5/10.
24 April 2008 showed a clear sky in the morning, so before going to work I made the following image of the Sun showing a very small spot.
20 April 2008 began with fog, slowly lifting to reveal a blue sky. I again used my APM/TMB 115/805, Baader Herschel prism, ND filter, Baader Solar Continuüm filter and DMK41 firewire camera for the pictures below. I could not image long before high cirrus clouds prevented further imaging.
The picture above is at the f/7 prime focus of TMB refractor, the one below is the area with the faculae on the east limb, but with a AP 1.8x barlow. Below that is a "region of interest" crop showing granulation. All images where sorted and stacked using multiple alignment points in Registax, processed with mild wavelet filter.
A first image of 2008, white light with my APM/TMB 115/805, Baader Herschel prism, ND filter, Baader Solar Continuüm filter and DMK41 firewire camera. The photo shows a tiny sunspot belonging to the new solar cycle.
During this image session, an airplane crossed the sun, a video of this event can be seen on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eR2fO6wl3m4
