COMET C/2020 H7 (LEMMON)

An apparently asteroidal object discovered on images taken by G. J. Leonard with the Mount Lemmon Survey 1.5-m reflector on Apr. 29.4 UT has been found to show cometary appearance by observers elsewhere after the object was posted on the Minor Planet Center's PCCP webpage.

... (Snip)  H. Sato, Tokyo, Japan, writes that fourteen stacked 60-s exposures taken remotely with a 0.61-m f/6.5 astrograph located at the Sierra Remote Observatory near Auberry, CA, USA, on May 2.5 UT show a stellar appearance; the magnitude was 20.8 as measured within a circular aperture of radius 3".7.

Twenty-five stacked 120-s unfiltered exposures taken by E. Bryssinck, Kruibeke, Belgium, with a 0.4-m f/3.8 reflector, during May 11.94-11.97 shows a diffuse, elongated coma of size 8" x 11", oriented north-south (p.a. About 183 deg); the magnitude was 20.0 in an aperture of radius 5". ... (Snip)
