Discovery:


Jana P. Chesley, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, reports the discovery of a comet in infrared images obtained during Jan. 9 UT  with the Near-Earth Object Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (or NEOWISE; formerly the WISE earth-orbiting satellite; cf. CBET 4225).  Chesley notes that the comet appears to be somewhat "fuzzy"

M.P.E.C. 2021-A211: COMET C/2021 A7 (NEOWISE)


J. Chesley reports the discovery of a comet in survey images obtained by

NEOWISE (C51) on Jan. 9 UT.  She reports extended PSF in both the 3.4 and 4.6

micron channels, about twice the width of nearby stellar PSFs.  Additional

reports of cometary features are as follows:
