Discovery:

R. Weryk, Institute for Astronomy, University of Hawaii, reports the discovery of another 20.5 magnitude object in images in constellation Andromeda, obtained with the Pan-STARRS1 1.8-m Ritchey-Chretien reflector at Haleakala on 2020 july 3, though it was apparently seen as asteroidal in the discovery images .  PanSTARRS also found a pre-discovery image from July 1. It was placed on the PCCP as P112nlR . which showed up its cometary nature in the course of follow-up observations [ CBET 4815: COMET C/2020 N1 -  MPEC 2020-O31 ]

The comet is at perihelion at 1.3 au in 2021 March, when it could be 14th magnitude or perhaps brighter.  It will be observable in the evening sky until the end of April from mid-European locations. During this interval it will move through the constellations Andromeda, Pisces, Aries, Taurus, Orion and Monoceros.
