Comet 2020 V2 (ZTF) (astro.vanbuitenen.nl)

Discovery:

In a survey called the "Zwicky Transient Facility" (ZTF) , an apparently 19th magnitude asteroidal object discovered in CCD images taken using the 1.2-m Schmidt telescope at Palomar , has been found to show cometary activity by CCD astrometrists elsewhere.  H. Sato, Tokyo, Japan, described this object as a condensed coma 8" in diameter with no tail; the magnitude was 18.9.. L. Buzzi, Varese, Italy, reports no obvious coma or tail, the object appeared clearly larger (FWHM 4".2) than nearby stars of similar brightness (3".8);  Hirohisa Sato, Sukagawa, Fukushima-ken, Japan,  found a moderately condensed coma about 8" in diameter and of total mag 18.2 but with no tail. A. Valvasori, Padulle, Italy, found a diffuse coma about 6" in diameter with total mag 18.4-18.9.  ( CBET 4887 )
